Summary: In liberal democracies such as ours, educational establishments have become small-scale models of society where children, adolescents and young people, apart from receiving formal academic instruction, are formed as citizens capable of interacting in the midst of diversity and respect for their dignity and the dignity of others. This school coexistence, mediated by a contract called coexistence manual, is influenced by legislation and jurisprudence that regulate the fundamental rights of citizens. But the adaptation of these legal impositions and guidelines has represented a great challenge for educational establishments to the extent that their adoption and implementation requires a change of cultural and political perspective in each of the members of the educational community, especially in teachers, teachers and even parents.   In the case of the General Santander Educational Institution, despite the fact that legal considerations on school coexistence have been incorporated as a legal framework and conceptual reference in the coexistence manual, and that in a large part of the document old practices that appeared contrary to the new contexts are redefined, in some aspects there is a lack of a true interpretation that fully and effectively recognizes guarantees and rights applicable to various situations of school coexistence.   In the verification of this legal context in the coexistence manual of the General Santander Educational Institution, the methodology of analysis and description is used in the documentary inquiry with the objective of determining what has been taken into account and what has not of the important normative development and jurisprudence that, on school coexistence, have been developed by legislators and high courts in Colombia
