Summary: The analysis turns around a series of crimes that are considered crimes against truth and a good reputation. Crimes that, after the reform of Book VI of CIC 83 carried out by Pope Francis with the Motu Proprio "Vos estis lux mundi", are included in canons 1390, which in its two paragraphs regulates false denunciations; the c. 1391, which focuses on documentary falsification, presenting several hypotheses depending on whether it is preparation, alteration, destruction, concealment or use; and the c.1371 relative to both the truth and the secret. This last canon regulates a series of figures, among which are the two novel ones of the violation of the pontifical secret and the omission of the due denunciation. The analysis stops to differentiate slander from detraction, in two moments: when reflecting on the false slanderous denunciation and, later, when treating the injury of good reputation. However, as protected legal rights, we reflect on the truth and good reputation in its concrete reality and in its public dimension from the Christian perspective: the one cultivated by the witness of Jesus Christ.
