Summary: The present study, cognitive distortions and suicide among young women between the ages of 14 to 27, refers to a subject of deep reflection and represents a high emotional impact on those who have experienced it. Its objective is to identify the cognitive distortions of the young women who came to the mental health department of the Rodríguez Zambrano Hospital in Manta-Ecuador who have had a suicide attempt event. The population consisted of 4 young women between 14 and 27 years old; They were chosen by non-probability sampling at the convenience of the researchers. It corresponds to a qualitative study. In order to obtain the information, an in-depth interview and the observation method were carried out, the inventory of automatic thoughts was also applied. The results showed that the young study subjects manifested: core beliefs characterized by thoughts of weakness, fragility, self-labels, maximization of emotions, inability to solve problems, devaluation and loneliness. It was evidenced that the most frequent cognitive distortions found in those investigated were: Fallacy of Divine Reward, Fallacy of Control, Fallacy of Justice, Interpretation of Thought and You should.
