Summary: Obesity and overweight is considered a problem for the public, it affects people of various ages and social strata, due to disordered eating habits or misinformation, it is a factor that affects the management of patients with respiratory problems and that requires mechanical ventilation support, this problem is especially evident in recent times when the number of patients due to the pandemic has increased.Objective: To determine the influence of obesity in the evaluation of mortality in patients undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation.Material and Method: A study was carried out on patients in the intensive care area of the Luis Vernaza Hospi-tal admitted in the period from March 2020 to March 2021 between the ages of 16 and 90 years. The digitized medical records of the SERVINTER CLINICAL SUITE program (HC MEDICA – 2.6) – (Medical Evolution – 2.6.2 (chievomed)) were changedConclusion: The results showed that most of the patients were elderly and male, as well as one of the most common clinical epidemiological characteristics was dyspnea. In the results produced, it was found that the epidemiological clinical characteristics and the BMI are statistically related to mortality after using Invasive Mechanical Ventilation (IMV), there is an influence between overweight, obesity and mortality.
