description
The normal term newborn (NB) is any NB that is born between 37 and 42 weeks of gestational age, has an appropriate weight for its gestational age and the examination is normal. The neonatal period chronologically encompasses the first 28 days of postnatal life. Meningitis is considered a disease of great relevance in Public Health since it is related to high morbidity and in turn to a high number of complications. Up to 10% of newborns have an infection during the first month of life. The peculiarity of this period determines that diseases common to the rest of childhood present very special characteristics in their etiopathogenesis, clinical expression, evolution and therapeutic possibilities. Viral meningitis (VM) is included within aseptic meningitis. In many cases it is asymptomatic. Clinically it is characterized by sudden onset of fever, meningeal symptoms and signs. This research work, framed in a review methodology, is aimed at the construction of an updated bibliographic material, focused on making known the current criteria for the management of viral meningitis in newborns in neonatal patients. Viral meningitis has a better prognosis compared to bacterial meningitis. For an adequate adaptation the newborn requires numerous biochemical and physiological changes that will determine the maturation of all its apparatus and systems. In the Latin American culture where closeness and family gatherings to celebrate "the new member", considering the above, it is clear that caring for the newborn to exposure to bacteria and viruses is the main objective to avoid complications, therefore it is of the utmost importance. vitality avoid exposing it to many people, especially children as they are the main carriers of asymptomatic viruses. Viral meningitis, also called purulent or cerebrospinal meningitis, continues to appear as a relevant cause of morbidity and mortality for the pediatric sector.

Viral meningitis, also called purulent or cerebrospinal meningitis, continues to appear as a relevant cause of morbidity and mortality for the pediatric sector.
