Also, by way of comparison, we address the different measures taken by Spain, Portugal and the countries of Latin America in the face of the covid-19 shock. We finish by proposing some post -covid-19 structural measures that should be taken into account, such as formalization, tax reform and the implementation of minimum Social Security in accordance with ILO Convention 102.En este artículo examinamos la crisis económica y social que el covid-19 puso en evidencia y la situación de la Seguridad Social en Iberoamérica; asimismo, se intenta responder por qué un continente como América Latina con tanta riqueza económica tiene niveles de pobreza tan graves en muchos de sus países. También, a manera de comparación, abordamos las diferentes medidas tomadas por España, Portugal y los países de América Latina frente al shock del covid19.
