Dental caries is a chronic, complex, dynamic, infectious disease of multifactorial origin. The lack of fluoride topifications establishes high indexes of the number of carious dental pieces in children from 6 to 12 years of age. Dental caries is a chronic, complex, dynamic, infectious disease of multifactorial origin. The lack of fluoride topifications establishes high indexes of the number of carious dental pieces in children from 6 to 12 years of age. The misuse of oral hygiene equipment is presumed to be the cause of increased bacterial plaque, dental calculus and gingivitis in this population. This descriptive and cross-sectional research is a type of mixed research on epidemiological aspects of caries. The
population and sample consisted of 15 children (100%) who attended the dental clinic of the health center Medicaldent I semester 2019, with mixed dentition of the health unit MEDICALDENT Guayaquil, delves into the influence of oral hygiene on dental diseases. The findings show a high prevalence of permanent decayed teeth (73%) with an average index of decayed, lost, clogged teeth (CPOD) of 1.78. The qualitative analysis provided us that the main cause originates from
oral hygiene, ignorance, unhealthy eating styles, low economic income, cariogenic diet, poor oral hygiene and a history of dental caries. It is concluded that the high incidence of dental caries can be reduced if we modify it through prevention from the conception of the child.
