Laburpena: The approval and subsequent entry into force of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union has given rise to an interesting phenomenon, affecting the relationship between the system of protection of human rights set forth in the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Union’s system of European integration. For many years, the European Convention system provided the European Union’s main source of inspiration in matter of human rights. However, after the Charter’s entry into force, that unidirectional influence has evolved towards a system of reciprocal influences.
