Summary: In the first part of this essay I review the main textual innovations of the Weimar Constitution. I go through the preamble, the catalog of fundamental rights, the aims of the State, the economy and culture. In the second part I study the deficits of the Weimar Constitution, especially in contrast to the Fundamental law of 1949. And, finally, in a long conclusion it is questioned whether the Weimar Constitution was really a good Constitution in a bad time.
