The independent candidates will be analyzed in this text with the intention of knowing their process of incorporation from 2012 to the political system and to the Mexican electoral system, to verify their functioning, their contributions to democracy, the challenges and uncertainties that they involve, as well as their advantages and weaknesses, focusing on its true complexityEste texto pretende describir y estudiar el proceso a través del cual México incorporó nuevamente a su legislación las llamadas candidaturas independientes para distintos puestos de elección popular, poniendo énfasis en la competencia por la presidencia de México. Estas candidaturas que, ante la crisis de representación que acompaña a los partidos políticos en la actualidad, han venido a complementar el juego electoral, ampliando las opciones con las que cuentan los ciudadanos al momento de depositar sus votos para decantarse por un determinado proyecto de país, o por un candidato de su agrado.
