This article is an integral part of a study whose first part was published in February 2017 and complements it. Contrary to the more theoretical approach employed in the first article, the present study will rely predominantly on documentary research, seeking to analyze the data of the most varied researches related to health and tobacco in order to verify if the tobacco control policies have been effective , What possible bottlenecks exist and, finally, to propose some indicators for future evaluations and points that still deserve attention on the part of the policies that have been applied. In general, there was a reduction in the number of smokers in Brazil and a significant increase in the proportion of smokers who tried to quit smoking, which can be attributed to the effectiveness of anti-smoking policies. The implementation of information and awareness policies would be a response to many of the bottlenecks verified in this article, in order to reduce asymmetries among groups, regions, school administrative dependencies, etc. Other issues, however, call for more targeted action, such as the effective inclusion of policies in the school environment, and greater attention to straw and non-industrialized cigarettes, and how awareness can be raised about the risks of their consumption.

Ao contrário da abordagem mais teórica empregada no primeiro artigo, o presente trabalho se valerá predominantemente da pesquisa documental, buscando analisar os dados das mais variadas pesquisas relacionadas à saúde e ao tabaco com o objetivo de verificar se as políticas de controle de tabaco têm sido eficazes, quais os eventuais gargalos existentes e, por fim, propor alguns indicadores para futuras avaliações e pontos que ainda merecem atenção por parte das políticas hodiernamente aplicadas. De maneira geral, foi observada uma redução no número de fumantes no Brasil e um aumento expressivo na proporção de fumantes que tentaram parar de fumar, o que pode ser atribuído pela eficácia das políticas antitabagismo.
