We show that similar representations are found in the Western law, as a discourse of the colonial power exerted in the metropolis and also in the periphery, a discourse that still lives today and still finds resistance and opposition.Neste trabalho foram apresentados debates acerca da classificação eurocêntrica entre o “eu” ocidental e o “outro” oriental, a partir das teorizações de Edward Said sobre orientalismo e relações entre colonialismo e cultura. Serão analisadas, para isso, obras de pintores europeus do século XIX por meio do método iconológico, comparando-as e ressaltando a marginalidade de algumas delas e a centralidade de outras.
