Summary: French law’s influence on the legal orders of other countries, particularlythose of Latin America, is not difficult to spot. However, from normative influence it ispossible to find a doctrinal influence, i. e. the influence of the French author’s legalideas in any branch of law. The purpose of this paper is to propose some generalhypotheses and ideas concerning the circulation of legal models and legal doctrines(which would constitute the first elements for the construction of a theory on that topic)and to apply them to the specific case of the reception of French Constitutional doctrinein Colombia, in the early twentieth century.
