Summary: This article focuses on the training carried out by the Schools of Legal Practice since 2004. This training aims to achieve future lawyers with specific professional skills and knowledge in the most relevant legal areas. This work stresses the importance of this type of training in a liberal profession like that of the lawyer, to which the official access differs greatly from one European country to another. As far as Spain is concerned, there will be an official examination from 2011 on and training courses for it will be organized by Universities and Bar Associations. As for the Universities, the training course will consist of a Master’s degree whose Curriculum should include these specific professional abilities, as well as competition skills in legal areas. Consequently, these competences will be a relevant reference in the very near future. In addition to that, this article takes into account the European qualifications framework and the key competences for lifelong learning.
