The evolution of society and changes in the model of care for the elderly have been forced to introduce a number of legislative initiatives to
provide society with means to cover the multiple deficiencies of various kinds that these different situations require. Despite the changes,
several studies show the "woman" –within the scope of receiving assistance– as primary caregiver and receiving care, and note that most tasks
of direct care of our elderly are performed by women both from the informal sphere and from the professional, so they are marked by a
significant gender factor.
The forecast provisions by our elders designed to clarify the decisions to be taken at the time that do not have sufficient capacity to grant them
(designation of a representative in case of incapacity, preparation of last wishes related to treatments and dead, will, etc) ensure respect for
their will and provide it with the necessary legal certainty in case of future legal, medical or any other type processes that directly affect the
person or their property, preventing family problems and the hard work that relatives have to adopt at the end of live, necessary but some times
painful decisions. |
