Among other issues, particular reference is made to the accounting responsibility concept and its characteristics features, and also to the National Court of Auditors function of ac- counting prosecution as a jurisdictional nature activity. Following the Spanish Su- preme Court’s jurisprudence, the study analyses other questions such as the account- ing responsibility subjective scope; the difference between accounting responsibility and other accounting law breaches; the independence of accounting and criminal responsibility and, finally, under what assumptions can validly be appreciated the interruption of the prescription period concerning accounting responsibilityEn este trabajo, el autor, una vez expuestas las vías de control a que están sujetos los actos, disposiciones y resoluciones jurisdiccionales del Tribunal de Cuentas, especialmente a través del recurso de casación ante el Tribunal Supremo, examina los pronunciamientos más desta- cados y recientes de este último en materia de responsabilidad conta- ble. Entre otros aspectos se hace referencia al concepto de responsabi- lidad contable y sus elementos caracterizadores y a la función de enjuiciamiento contable del Tribunal de Cuentas como una actividad de naturaleza jurisdiccional.
