Sumario: The fight in Afghanistan since 2001 is being intense considering the high number and diversity of converging issues, together with the complex interconnection of these issues. This complexity arises from the internal features of the country, its geographical location and the performance of the neighboring and external actors. The international community is developing a multi-level stabilization and reconstruction strategy, which emerges from political, economic, social and military considerations and is based on three groups of interconnected goals: security, development and governance, aimed at achieving the afghanisation. The analysis of the results so far shows a negative balance concerning the security and development, and implies an important challenge for the current agenda of the international community.
