From a documentary analysis related to Latin America, this article is intended to provide some theoretical considerations about the above named topics, by describing them as the model of social comptroller�s office to be instated in Venezuela. Despite the agreement about the importance of social comptroller�s office performance, as a process in Latin America it faces some difficulties for reaching a theoretical realization in the most efficient way it can be implemented, concerning its mechanisms, instances, and levels of execution, and the design of norms for governing the actions of those assuming control tasks in society. The article is intended to identify if above named general problems are reproduced or not in Venezuela.La reflexión sobre el Estado y la manera como este se relaciona con la sociedad, y la tendencia cada vez más sostenida y creciente en que se imponen mecanismos mediante los cuales aquella asume e incrementa su control sobre la actuación estatal impregnan las teorías de los científicos sociales desde hace tres décadas. El objetivo del presente trabajo a partir del análisis documental referido a Latinoamérica es plantear algunas consideraciones teóricas sobre los tópicos antes aludidos, relacionando los mismos como el modelo de contraloría social que se pretende instaurar en Venezuela. A pesar del consenso sobre la importancia del ejercicio de la contraloría social, esta como proceso, en América Latina tropieza con algunas barreras en su concreción teórica, en la forma más eficiente en que puede implementarse en la práctica, en cuanto sus mecanismos, instancias y niveles de ejecución, y el diseño normativo del marco que regula las acciones de quienes asumen las tareas de control desde la sociedad.
