From any exploratory or analytical viewpoint which the
academic world seeks to adopt, it is aware that its own
nature and situation obliges it to maintain close links
with efforts to strengthen the subject of human rights,
especially as this is an exercise aimed at advancing professional training, education and research in any of the
various fields of human knowledge. This is not a random
statement or spontaneous intention to link the university
education system to activities related to human rights�
issues or international humanitarian law. This article�s
main objective is intended to examine the academic
world�s role and that of the university in strengthening
human rights and studying how such institutions can
contribute towards the formation of the different actors
who will ultimately be involved in resolving various
problems in this area as presented in Colombia. A
general description is thus given of the university�s
role regarding social reality and the undeniable linking
involved in studying human rights.

A general description is thus given of the university�s role regarding social reality and the undeniable linking involved in studying human rights.A Academia, sob qualquer perspectiva de exploração ou de análise que se pretenda adiantar, está consciente que da sua própria natureza e condição resulta a obrigatoriedade de manter uma estreita vinculação com as atividades tendentes a fortalecer o tema dos �Direitos Humanos�, especialmente quando se trata de um exercício profissional tendente a adiantar processos de formação, instrução e investigação em qualquer dos distintos campos do saber humano. Esta não é uma afirmação lançada ao acaso, nem a intenção natural de vincular o sistema educativo universitário às atividades relacionadas com os temas de direitos humanos ou do Direito Internacional Humanitário. O objetivo principal deste artigo está encaminhado a reflectir sobre o papel que cabe à Academia e à Universidade em geral com respeito ao fortalecimento dos direitos humanos e a estudar a maneira como estas instituições podem contribuir na formação dos distintos atores que por sua vez irão intervir na solução dos diversos problemas que neste campo se apresentam no país. Para dar seguimento ao desenvolvimento deste objetivo adiantar-se-á uma descrição geral dos papeis que cumpre à Universidade frente à realidade social e o entrelaçamento indiscutível que se apresenta em relação com o estudo dos direitos humanos.La academia, desde cualquier perspectiva de exploración o de análisis que se pretenda adelantar, es consciente que de su propia naturaleza y condición se desprende la obligatoriedad de mantener una estrecha vinculación con las actividades tendientes a fortalecer el tema de los �Derechos Humanos�, especialmente cuando se trata de un ejercicio profesional tendiente a adelantar procesos de formación, instrucción e investigación en cualquiera de los distintos campos del saber humano. No es esta una afirmación lanzada al azar, ni la intención natural de vincular el sistema educativo universitario a las actividades relacionadas con los temas de derechos humanos o del derecho internacional humanitario. El objetivo principal de este artículo está encaminado a reflexionar sobre el papel que cumple la academia y la universidad en general respecto al fortalecimiento de los derechos humanos y a estudiar la manera como estas instituciones pueden contribuir con la formación de los distintos actores que finalmente van a intervenir en la solución de los diversos problemas que en este campo se presentan en el país.
