Summary: The continuous centralized government that has defined the Colombian State is analyzed. The constitutional history of Colombian territorial organization is partially reconstructed based on the aforesaid idea. Said organization is the result of a centralized logic and a constant trend towards a unitary state. Three hundred years of colonial domination and republican history evidence a marked approach to administration and territorial dominance. Doubtlessly, the colonial times, the republican age, some federal interregnums and the last twenty years of the Political Constitution of 1991 reflect the construction of a top-to-bottom model in which either territorial or autonomous logics is little or no important.
