It intends to introduce some historical and legal reasons to understand female citizenship as a political, historical and cultural category in permanent construction. The methodology used is documentary analysis; it develops the following contents: Female Citizenship and full citizenship as a political horizon, and the background of the social and legal status of women in Colombia, as a base to propose a reflection on the participation of women in traditional spaces such as public institutions and political parties, and in nontraditional areas such as women´s organizations and women¿s social movement and feminist movement.El siguiente texto constituye un resultado parcial del proyecto de investigación "Mujer y participación política", se propone presentar algunos porqués históricos y jurídicos para entender la ciudadanía femenina como categoría política, histórica y cultural en construcción permanente.
