This paper presents the systematization of a methodological proposal to undertake the study
of the political role of an electoral tribunal from the Political Sciences perspective, specifically, the case of
the Republic of Costa Rica. Three sections are formulated, all of them dedicated to the dependent
variable. The first one presents the adjustment of a study model from constitutional courts to the
electoral ones. The second one proposes three dimensions to the political role of the electoral tribunal:
quasi-legislator function, accountability and responsiveness. The last one suggests an electoral typology
of political action scenarios and electoral judges |
