Summary: The legal profession has been the subject of special inspection by both theoretical sociology of professions, such as sociology and law to this effect; the two specialties have drunk of the sources of the general sociology. Although today, in part, several areas of sociology of the professions they chose, after years of discussion, to abandon the task of theoretical conceptualization of what is a profession, considering that, finally, a sterile affair, despite being, likewise, views the field of legal sociology, as expressed by Nikolas Luhmann, who considered the question of the legal profession as a matter unrelated to the sociology of law in this letter states that these efforts have not been set forth in vain. The theory about the legal profession, the progress achieved in the process of theoretical construction of what is a profession, is of significant relevance for the analysis of legal practices, or rather, the legal operation of social control.
