Even though we are more aware of this reality, we're still far behind of achieving fair and sustainable growth.El modelo de desarrollo sostenible implica un equilibrio entre las variables económica, social y ambiental. En los últimos años en Colombia los indicadores económicos han presentado una tendencia al crecimiento; sin embargo, esta situación no se ve reflejada proporcionalmente en la realidad social. Nuestro país posee una gran riqueza ecológica, que se ha deteriorado por la falta de gestión y control de los entes territoriales y autoridades ambientales. Esta situación se torna más precaria en la Costa Caribe, donde las variables sociales, económicas y ambientales están por debajo del promedio nacional.
