Laburpena: Legal harmonization in the field of contracts within the European Union and, particularly, the contract of sales, requires a uniform semasiology of fundamental legal concepts. This unambiguous semantics of European Contract Law should be based on the European legal culture that we share and, therefore, we can easily understand and recognise. This article presents a retrospective analysis of different definitions provided by the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on a Common European Sales Law. The abovementioned retrospective analysis shows us in detail how legal semantics is being constructed nowadays.
