Laburpena: The main purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that according to the pluricultural composition of Mexico it is imperative to respect the rights of indigenous people, as shown in the 2nd article of the Constitution, as well as in international agreements. Nevertheless, the current 20th article of the Constitution does not grant an interpreter or translator in the prosecution of people whose mother tongue is and indigenous language and not Spanish. That affects their judicial sphere, leaving them aside in a defenseless position.
