Summary: The industrial revolution and mass production of goods and services, developed in the legal system new negotiable forms and with today�s economic reality, the dynamism of markets and the globalization of trade require more effective forms of guarantees according with the new trends and the increasing needs of men each day, and go hand in hand with the technical and technological advances. While banking and financial systems structure offering attractive services to people with high and low purchasing power, potential users, a way of access to meeting those needs. This article analyzes the system of guarantees in Colombia since his notion or concept until their classification in national law to determine whether a modification will allow it to lower the credit offered by banks to people who want to access them through lower interest rates, which in itself is the economic and social problems.
