The past has become more accessible thanks to the archeological advances and the methodological and historical innovations, such as the increased legitimating of oral history, interdisciplinary testing and the acceptance of a more reflexive historical sensitivity. The word trauma has become the entry point to allegedly authentic memories for those memories that are sculpted by trauma have altered modern methods of historicism analysis. The purpose of this paper is to examine the increased importance of memory and traumatic memory in political and cultural discourses.
