Summary: |
The idea of memory has progressively become
the language used as the basis for
individual, victims and groups claims and
entitlements in order to gain recognition
and compensation. The past has become
more accessible thanks to the archeological
advances and the methodological and
historical innovations, such as the increased
legitimating of oral history, interdisciplinary testing and the acceptance of a
more reflexive historical sensitivity. The
word trauma has become the entry point
to allegedly authentic memories for those
memories that are sculpted by trauma have
altered modern methods of historicism
analysis. The purpose of this paper is to
examine the increased importance of memory
and traumatic memory in political and cultural discourses. |
