Laburpena: In the Valencian Region, the new Matrimonial Act and the Inheritance Act (in project) have provided some legislative mechanisms adapted from the rules and privileges given to the city and kingdom of Valencia (1238-1707), in order to favour the survival of the family firms, both in cases of separation or dissolution of marriage, as when family succession occurs. From the analysis of that Medieval Corpus iuris or Furs, we examine how it has been adapted to modern society and the opportunities it presents for the survival of family businesses in the Valencian Community.
