Youth protection should be one of the main aspects to be considered in sports. In particular, football is
one of those sports in which it can be seen everyday very young people being hired by famous clubs for
too many years, having thus obligations that might lead them to be considered as chained to their clubs.
Spanish Courts, meanwhile, do not seem to be worried about this, as they continue to give judgements in
which they establish millionaire compensation to be paid by the players to the clubs in case they leave,
even if they do when the contract has already finished. In this article the theoretical legal framework of
the young sportmen labour market will be analysed, as well as the real situation generated by the recent
sentences of the Courts, specially the one of the Baena case. |
