Laburpena: As some other environment-related concepts and methods , environmental education is being employed in a shallow and superficial way. This has led, ultimately ,to environment being interpreted as nothing but a series of entertainment proposals, vague cultural initiatives and lack of consistency. Following a number of theoretical considerations which state that environmental education is an efficient way for increasing the awareness of one¿s reality and enhancing the capacity to take steps to manage it, the present article deals with geographic analysis of several Andalusian rural environments -lowlands, mountains, seaboard - to prove how geographical analysis can set up the basis for an environmental educational program that follows the guidelines of the theoretical framework proposed.
