Laburpena: This paper undertakes an analysis of the size of income distribution in Galicia for the 1973- 1991 period. Using data from the Encuestas de Presupuestos Familiares (I.N.E) we study the evolution of inequality and polarization in Galicia, comparing with similar results for Spain. Inequality is addressed using the Lorenz criterium and indices with different sensitivity to transfers in different places of the distribution. In the case of polarization we use methods derived from Wolfson (1994) and Esteban, Gradín and Ray (1999). Inference is conducted using bootstraps.
