The short term analysis of regional economic activity of Spanish regions is very difficult, due to the annual frequency and the publication delay of official statistics. Different studies have been carried out to overcome this shortcoming. The more important focus on how to distribute quarterly data from annual data. This work belongs to this field, and concerns the use of short term indicators to estimate quarterly figures from the annual (1980-1997) Gross Added Value of the Agricultural, Industrial, Building and Service activities in Andalucía. This involves different tasks such as: trendcycle signal extraction of short term indicators, their strict selection, and the application of the Chow-Lin procedure. |
